Kihega Residential Home
United States / CLAREMORE, Oklahoma
Location ID: #10255735
The restoration of the 1908 American 4-square home was a labor of love for us as the newest owners. This magnificent residence, constructed by one of Claremore's earliest superintendents of public schools, is a true treasure for Claremore. Boasting four generously proportioned rooms on the main floor, the house's second story served
as a spacious bunk room for children, making it an ideal dwelling for large families of that time.
The original owner's lifestyle can be partially reconstructed through the renovation process, which revealed that the home lacked many of the modern amenities we take for granted today, such as plumbing, heating, and cooling, which were added 20 years after the house was constructed. Despite the lack of modern amenities, the house possesses a timeless charm that has only improved with age.
The McBeath family, who owned the home for many years, upon deciding to sell, desired to ensure that the property was restored with the same love and care that had resided within its walls over the years. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew that this was worth saving. We were determined to restore the home with meticulous attention to detail and great care. The restoration process was extensive and involved many different aspects of the house, from the foundation to the roof. We expanded the floorplan by adding 4 rooms to the ground floor.
The restoration began in September of 2022 and took slightly less than a year to complete, which has resulted in a home that has stayed true to its original design and is filled with character and charm.
As the newest owners, we are proud to have played a part in preserving this piece of history and were delighted to share it with others.
