Not Cho Cheesecake is a quaint little bakery hidden on College Avenue in the film friendly community of Bethany, Oklahoma. Founded by 32-year-old Army combat veteran, mother and wife Shoshianna Moore, Not Cho Cheesecake is a one-of-a-kind cheesecake bakery serving up made-from-scratch treats you can’t find anywhere else. With over 30 fun flavors with colorful names like Big Mama and Tennessee Whiskey, the attention to detail goes beyond the delicious confections as the humble location itself was transformed by Moore with fresh vibrant new wall colors, custom decor and more. The local, black-owned business has faced many struggles since its opening in 2019, including the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic and untimely passing of its owner, Moore, shortly thereafter. However, Moore’s legacy continues to this day as business operations are led by her husband Glen Whitaker, and Not Cho Cheesecake has established itself as a gem of the community of Bethany and a blossoming business in Central Oklahoma, serving nearly 200 cheesecakes daily.
Not Cho Cheesecake is featured in the upcoming documentary series, “Black Eats,” with episodes spotlighting a selection of black-owned restaurants in Oklahoma. The documentary series comes from local filmmaker Apollo Woods in partnership with the Oklahoma Film & TV Academy. The location will also be featured in the upcoming short film, "Cheese Sisters".
