1901 Historic Rodkey House, Edwardian

United States / EDMOND, Oklahoma
Location ID: #10183215

The Rodkey House, a pale peach Edwardian house, was built in 1901 by the town's wealthy Issac Rodkey family. The 1,400 square foot, two-story house sits at the edge of a park in downtown Edmond. The outside is restored and the interior has been refurbished for use as a rental facility (weddings, showers, family reunions), therefore, there are no permanent furnishing. The house enters into a parlor that has visible doorways into three other rooms. An bathroom and kitchenette have been added to modernize the space, although they are not visible upon entry. The houses has a modern HVAC system. Various ADA requirements such as an outdoor ramp have been added, but otherwise, the rooms are empty. A narrow stairwell in the back hallways goes upstairs to a single room (with the stairs coming up into the center of the room), and there is a small lookout window. The upstairs is currently used for storage (as seen in the photo), but items could be removed. The floors are original hardwood. A street with parking spaces runs along the front of the house. A tour of the house is located at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju6xf8nxHFg
