Nowata City Drug
United States / NOWATA, Oklahoma
Location ID: #10180361
This location has two floors. They were initially owned and constructed by two different companies. The bottom floor was built in 1904 and was a general store until it became a pharmacy in 1953 and has remained that since. The top floor was constructed in 1909 and was built by the Elks Company. The second floor was used for Elks meetings, teen dances, and a dance hall for adults with live music. It was sold to the pharmacist in 1975, but was shut down by the fire department due to fire escape. The top floor has been vacant since, just used for storage. The top floor need renovations because the roof had leaked. The roof has been repaired. The wood floors are in great shape, especially the dance hall room. The 2nd floor has 3 other rooms, a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. There are also multiple decorative fireplaces. The ceiling above the drop panel ceiling tiles are beautiful decorative steel ceiling panels. It has original doors, fixtures, and the owners have all the original light covers. The first floor is still set up like the older fashion pharmacy that started there in 1953. The upper story needs some renovation, but could be a beautiful location.
