The Ritz Theater was built in 1897-1899 as a dry goods store. In 1911 it was purchased by Jake Jones Sr. and on March 19th The Cozy Theater opened its doors. During WWI the Cozy was remodeled and became a stop on the Vaudeville circuit. Finally, in 1926, the theater was renamed The Ritz and showed the first talking motion pictures! The Ritz is now a music venue and home to other live performances. In 2021, The Ritz hosted a portion of filming on the feature film “Help Wanted” as well as the short film which shared its namesake “The Ritz”.
