City of Durant

Durant truly is a gem waiting to be discovered by the film community. You don't find small towns like Durant. Because of the collaboration between Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and the Choctaw Nation as well as public and private efforts, we have almost any location a film could utilize with the exception of an Urban cityscape.

Bryan County's topography ranges from forests to plains to lakes. Durant falls into an area of Bryan County that is closest to plains with forests not too far to the east.

Community Features:
The facilities that Durant has could compete with the best. We have cute, small businesses to large manufacturing facilities. We have solar panel fields and the large corporate headquarters of the Choctaw Nation and their growing Casino. We have a downtown with a "beach" and murals galore, and we have historical structures that remind us everyday that important things have happened here. We have a busy highway running through town, and plenty of restaurants to feed your cast and crew. We have a beautiful and historic University and we have cute and architecturally important neighborhoods. We even have been given a shout out by Sandra Bullock in "All About Steve" (2009) for our World's Largest Peanut.

Community Filmography:
On the Road with Austin and Santino for Lifetime; we were a finalist for the Small Business Revolution TV show, and we've had properties featured on HGTV over the years. We've also had numerous shout outs on national television.

City Infrastructure:
When it comes to shopping, Durant is often recognized for its' small boutique stores in the downtown area. We certainly have our share of big box stores, but we can offset those with our locally owned businesses. We have several grocery stores in town, antiques and boutique clothing stores downtown. As far as infrastructure goes, we also have several large manufacturing facilities as well.

Landmarks:
Top tourist attractions in the Durant area are the downtown, home to the World's Largest Peanut. We also attract tourists to Lake Texoma, and Fort Washita among others.
