Mallory Grossman is a cinematographer based in Los Angeles, who graduated from the AFI Conservatory, where she received her MFA in Cinematography. With a BS in Studio Art (Photography) and Film & Media Studies from Skidmore College in New York, she transitioned into working in film production due to a passion for the visual language of cinema. Her short films have dealt with issues such as gender and mental health, and she hopes to bring stories to life that reflect underrepresented perspectives and incite empathy and understanding for others.Her most recent work has been recognized by festivals around the globe, including AFI Fest, Cleveland International Film Festival, Dublin International Comedy Film Festival, Outfest, and Inside Out Toronto.
For her MFA in cinematography from the AFI Conservatory, she was trained in both motion picture digital, 35mm film, and 16mm film. She has worked with Panavision cameras and lenses, as well as Arri, Sony, and RED technology and optics. Experienced in all facets of camera and lighting, including as a focus puller and film loader, she has worked professionally for many years now as a cinematographer, camera operator, 1st and 2nd camera assistant, gaffer, and key grip.
