I am Cora Hasegawa, an independent filmmaker in Tulsa looking for employment in film. I am interested and able to work in almost all areas of film production, post production, and screenwriting. My individual creative interests are in animation, production design, writing, and editing. I recently moved back to Tulsa and am working to make more connections in the Tulsa and greater Oklahoma film communities. I enjoy telling personal narratives through film that build connections between people. Primarily using paper collage, stop motion animation, and digital drawings, I create detailed portraits and scene depictions, both animated and pictorial. I have training and experience in all aspects of filmmaking and am always looking for opportunities to grow. Currently I am expanding my expertise in animation, screenwriting, production design, and editing.I attended Oberlin College, graduating with a major in cinema studies and double minors in art history and East Asian studies. At Oberlin I studied stop-motion animation, using paper cut-outs and found objects to tell stories, culminating in my thesis film Grandma/Obāchan. In the fall of my junior year I spent a semester studying at Prague Film School (PFS).
I worked as a PA and 2nd AC on the The Girl Scout Murders through Firethief and Texas Crew Productions. Recently, I completed Zach Litwack’s Writing for the Screen and Film Setiquette workshops where I studied production design and lighting. My stop-motion animation short Grandma/Obāchan was accepted to nine festivals and received several nominations including Best In Animation at New Filmmakers LA. I have also animated for Rian Brown-Orso for All Bound Up, her film on the history of the bra.
